Another clear measurable impact we’re having on humans using Opal is that we’re saving them their time.

Opal’s mission is to help people focus better. Focus, however, is hard to measure. One clear and measurable impact we can track is time saved.
During onboarding, people tell Opal how much time they currently spend on their phone. From the moment they start using the app, we measure how their total screen time changes.
The result is clear: you spend significantly less time on screens after you start using Opal. When we add together the time saved by everyone actively using Opal, we’re able to calculate the total impact our community is having.
As of June 2026, Opal users have saved over 500 million hours.
That number keeps growing, and is displayed on the homepage of our website.
500 million hours is a lot of time.
It is about 57,000 years.
Long enough to go back to when humans were painting on cave walls.
But the most important part of this number is not how big it is. It is what people are doing with the time they get back.
Every day, we hear from people using Opal to study, work, sleep better, spend time with family, finish creative projects, move their bodies, see friends, pick up hobbies, and build routines that support the life they want.
That is the impact we care about.
Opal is not about using technology less for the sake of it.
It is about using technology well.
Phones, apps, AI, and the internet are powerful tools. Opal helps people build the boundaries they need to get the most out of those tools while still making time for focus, rest, relationships, creativity, and everything else that matters.
Thank you for being part of the Opal community, for reclaiming your time back, and for helping us grow our impact on the world.
Here’s to the next 500 million hours.
