To assist with your screen time goals, Opal has an "App Uninstall" feature on the iOS version of the app.Β This feature prevents you from uninstalling Opal or other apps, or changing your phone's time/date, while in a Session. When enabled, you will be unable to uninstall ANYΒ app from your phone unless you cancel your existing Opal Session first. If you attempt to delete apps while in an active Session, you will only be able to hide them from your device's Home screen and they will be moved to your app library.
To enable "App Uninstall," take the following steps:
To increase the efficacy of this feature, we'd recommend combining "App Uninstall" with our "Pin Code" feature. If you do so, you'll be required to input your "Pin Code" prior to opening Opal during a Session, making it more difficult to bypass "App Uninstall." For maximum protection, combine "App Uninstall" and "Pin Code" with a Screen Time Passcode. Available on iOS 26.4+, the Screen Time Passcode locks Opal's permissions at the iOS level so they can't be turned off.
If you have cancelled all existing Sessions and toggled off "App Uninstall Protection" and you still are unable to delete apps, please try the following:
That should sort out the issue.
Please note that App Uninstall Protection will be on by default when you are in a "No way, I'm hardcore" Session type. Additionally, you will be unable to disable "App Uninstall Protection" when you are in a "No way, I'm hardcore" Session.
Currently, "App Uninstall Protection" is not yet available on the Mac App or Android version of the app, but we aim to introduce it soon. Stay tuned on that front!
